This role sits within the Public Governance and Institutional Transformation Section, contributing to projects on Public Administration, Institutional Reform, Governance, Accountability, Innovation, and Local Governance.

Job Purpose

This entry-level Research Assistant role supports the Public Governance and Institutional Transformation Section at ESCWA. The primary purpose is to provide essential research, data collection, documentation, and organizational support for projects focused on public administration reform and innovative governance in the Arab region. The role contributes to the timely preparation of accurate research materials, databases, background notes, and presentations, aiding ESCWA's mission to assist Member States in navigating complex economic, social, and environmental challenges through modernized public services and effective governance.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will conduct research, extract, consolidate, and organize quantitative and qualitative information from diverse sources using appropriate tools. Responsibilities include assisting in data validation for accuracy and completeness, maintaining computerized databases, and updating research files. The role involves preparing reports, presentations, tables, graphs, and charts to communicate research findings. Additionally, the assistant will gather and summarize information from various national and international sources, prepare abstracts and background notes, and support the preparation of project-related materials and meetings, including taking notes and coordinating with team members.

Work Experience

No prior work experience is required for this assignment. However, skills in data collection and analysis are required. Experience in data collection, research, or related assignments is considered desirable.
