Job Purpose

This Information Technology and Management Intern role supports UNEP's Ecosystems Division, specifically within the Source to Sea Pollution Unit. The intern will contribute to the Global Partnership on Plastic Pollution and Marine Litter (GPML) and the management of the Global Plastics Hub. The purpose is to assist with plastic lifecycle data analysis, optimize and migrate the Global Plastics Hub, resolve bugs, enhance functionalities, and monitor user engagement to improve outreach and promote hub usage, ultimately supporting the transition to a circular economy for plastics and reducing pollution.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist with plastic lifecycle data analysis, identifying new datasets and recommending integration and visualization approaches for the global data map and country dashboards. Responsibilities include optimizing and migrating the Global Plastics Hub by understanding its architecture and codebase, cleaning data, and providing technical assistance. The role involves identifying and resolving bugs, improving functionalities through daily management of the Hub, and monitoring user engagement. Data analysis will be conducted to enhance GPML outreach activities and increase the use of the Global Plastics Hub.
