The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Communications, External Relations and Partnerships (CERP) Unit seeks a videographer for COP17. This role supports the UNCCD's mandate to address desertification, land degradation, and drought by producing high-quality visual assets to raise global awareness and visibility of land issues.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to create compelling visual content during COP17 to enhance global awareness of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and the UNCCD's work. The videographer will capture and produce daily highlights, interviews, and other requested materials, including cinematic footage of the Silk Road Caravan journey and its arrival. This content will be used across mainstream and social media platforms to tell the story of land restoration and drought resilience, showcase the efforts of UNCCD Parties and partners, and highlight the activities of the Executive Secretary, thereby contributing to the UNCCD's strategic communication goals and advocacy efforts.
Responsibilities
The videographer will be responsible for covering all videography needs for UNCCD COP17 under the supervision of the Chief of CERP. Key duties include collaborating with production partners to ensure footage aligns with narrative and technical specifications. This involves delivering daily high-quality highlight clips for social media (Reels, TikTok, YouTube) and capturing cinematic 4K+ footage of landscapes, interviews, and the Silk Road Caravan journey. The role also entails filming high-quality interviews with officials, scientists, and pastoralists, capturing impactful images of rangelands and events, and executing aerial filming with drones in compliance with regulations. Additionally, the videographer must ensure clean, synced audio capture for all recordings and manage all equipment, data offloading, and backups using the 3-2-1 rule in field conditions.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in documentary filmmaking, photojournalism, or broadcast media is required. Experience filming in remote, outdoor environments is essential. Willingness to travel to remote project sites is also necessary. The consultant must provide their own professional videography and audio equipment.
