Organizational Context
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), part of the UN Secretariat, is seeking an intern for its Conference Management Services (CMS) in Beirut. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within a UN agency, supporting the design team with various communication materials and contributing to the organization's outreach efforts.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide a graphic design student or recent graduate with hands-on experience in a UN environment. The intern will support the ESCWA design team by assisting in the creation and layout of diverse information materials, including policy briefs, booklets, flyers, social media content, and presentations. The role involves contributing to visual communication strategies, developing graphic assets like logos and infographics, and potentially assisting with animation storyboards, thereby enhancing the visual appeal and effectiveness of ESCWA's outreach and publications.
Responsibilities
Assist the Senior Designer and the ESCWA design team with daily tasks. Design and lay out various information materials such as policy briefs, booklets, flyers, roll-up banners, social media posts, and PowerPoint presentations. Create visual assets including logos, infographics, illustrations, and drawings. Support the development of scripts, mood boards, and storyboards for animated content. Collaborate with authors and language colleagues to understand and meet project specifications and requirements. Perform other related design tasks as needed to support the department's communication objectives.
Work Experience
No previous work experience is required for this internship. However, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Xpress) is mandatory. Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Premiere is desirable, as is familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
