Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the implementation of a project focused on improving public spaces for children (0-6 years) and their caregivers in São Paulo and Curitiba, Brazil. The role involves developing and executing a technical work plan, coordinating participatory processes, and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of project outputs. The consultant will collaborate closely with UN-Habitat teams and local partners to enhance urban environments, making them safer, more inclusive, and conducive to early childhood development, aligning with the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The consultant will develop and implement a detailed technical work plan, aligning with the project's overall timeline and methodology. Responsibilities include participating in and preparing materials for meetings, workshops, and training sessions. The role involves close communication with the UN-Habitat technical team, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and are aligned with UN-Habitat's guidelines. Key duties include coordinating the methodological and logistical preparation of activities, managing project documentation, and presenting interim outputs. The consultant will also participate in the design and implementation of in-person activities, address feedback for revisions, and ensure compliance with all agreed deadlines and deliverables.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of experience in urban development, public spaces planning, and urban design in Brazil is required. Experience in designing and implementing projects related to public space, urban planning, and early childhood development is essential. Proven experience in coordinating participatory processes, preparing technical reports for international organizations, and managing project timelines is also necessary.
Skills
Strong presentation and communication skills. Proficiency in organization, time management, and multidisciplinary team coordination. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and ensure quality assurance. Understanding of gender-responsive and inclusive approaches. Experience with documentation systems and project record maintenance. Knowledge of data analysis, territorial planning, or GIS is desirable.
