IT Telecoms Contractor

Organizational Context

The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), within the Division of Administration (DoA) and the Information and Communication Technology Service (ICTS), seeks an IT Telecoms Contractor. This role operates within the ICTS Service Desk Unit, specifically the Telecoms Team, reporting to the Chief of the Service Desk Unit.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the effective resolution of all CRM tickets assigned to the Telecoms service team and to provide comprehensive installation, configuration, and support for conferences as scheduled by the ICTS Telecoms team. The contractor will also be responsible for escalating any issues that cannot be resolved using the existing network architecture. This position contributes to the smooth operation of telecommunications services within UNOG, supporting both daily operations and critical conference events.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include installing, repairing, and testing telecom software and hardware, including network cables, sockets, and switch room patches. The contractor will maintain accurate information systems data related to user requests, equipment inventories, and vendor interfaces. This involves manufacturing network-compatible cables, installing and testing LAN connections, mini-switches, and wireless networks. A significant duty is providing telecoms installation, configuration, and support for conferences. The role also requires performing other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the Telecoms Team.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required in fields such as IT, Telephony, Networking, Network Support, Electricity, or Logistics. Experience with VOIP and Network Asset Management is considered desirable for this role.
