Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development globally. The Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS), established in Cairo, Egypt, provides technical cooperation and capacity building across 18 countries. This internship is within the UN-Habitat Egypt country programme, supporting its mission to reform and improve urban planning and management.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in administrative and operational support within the UN-Habitat Egypt country programme. The intern will assist the Country Programme Manager and the Procurement Unit in various tasks, contributing to the efficient functioning of the office. Key contributions include supporting human resources processes, financial reporting, procurement activities, and maintaining essential office records. This role offers exposure to UN administrative procedures and sustainable urban development initiatives, fostering professional growth in a dynamic international environment.
Responsibilities
Support the maintenance of vacancy announcement files and track their status. Assist in maintaining the staffing table and preparing relevant statistical data and charts. Help prepare or customize financial reports using the UMOJA system. Draft routine correspondence for administrative, financial, audit, and personnel inquiries. Assist in preparing tailored administrative reports. Support the Procurement Unit by collecting supplier quotations and organizing procurement documentation. Maintain and update office vehicle logbooks, ensuring accuracy of usage records.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, experience in organizing, supporting, or participating in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, or human resources is desirable. Strong research, data collection, and reporting skills related to financial and administration services are also beneficial.
Skills
Computer literacy in standard software (Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds. Fluency in English and Arabic (oral and written).
