Partnership Intern
Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Beijing supports the UN Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team by providing inter-agency coordination. This office facilitates support to the UN Country Team and its working mechanisms. The Partnership Intern will be based in Beijing and will support the RCO China office.
Job Purpose
The Partnership Intern will support the UN Partnership and Financing Officer in engaging with government counterparts on protocol-related issues. This role contributes to the UN Country Team's mandate by providing partnership-related support. The intern will assist in organizing policy dialogues, high-level meetings, workshops, and conferences, including logistical arrangements and preparation of materials. They will also support the collection and analysis of information on China's development priorities and international cooperation, contributing to analytical reports and knowledge products. Additionally, the intern will aid in stakeholder coordination and engagement with UN entities and external partners, as well as support training activities and UN delegations.
Responsibilities
Support the organization and coordination of RCO's major policy dialogues, high-level meetings, workshops, conferences, and partnership activities. This includes managing logistical arrangements, providing on-site support, and preparing agendas, briefing materials, meeting records, speeches, and presentations. Assist in collecting, compiling, statistically analyzing, and visualizing information on China’s key policies and development priorities, including international development cooperation. Contribute to analytical reports, briefing papers, presentations, and other knowledge products. Facilitate stakeholder coordination and engagement with UN entities and external partners by consolidating inputs, preparing background materials, and ensuring effective communication. Provide support for training activities and high-level UN delegations, encompassing both logistical and substantive aspects. Draft analysis documents on host government policies related to international development cooperation, financing for development, and humanitarian assistance, in addition to preparing meeting notes and reports.
Work Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a relevant field of study is essential. Candidates must be able to cover all travel, visa, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses for the internship duration.
Skills
Good knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams). Strong analytical skills. Ability to build strong relationships with clients. Ability to work independently. Desirable: Ability to design surveys and draft documents. Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese.
