The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Beijing, China, supports the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team by providing inter-agency coordination. Job Purpose
The Protocol Intern will support the UN Partnership and Financing Officer in engaging with government counterparts on protocol-related matters, contributing to the implementation of the Cooperation Framework. This role involves preparing official communications, addressing practical protocol issues, and liaising with the UN Country Team on their protocol needs. The intern will also assist in providing logistical and substantive support to incoming high-level UN delegations. The ultimate goal is to provide essential protocol support to the Resident Coordinator's Office and the UN Country Team, ensuring the smooth execution of their mandates and facilitating successful visits and operations within China.
Responsibilities
Prepare draft Note Verbales for government counterparts, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support the mandates of the RCO and UN Country Team. Engage with government counterparts to resolve practical protocol issues, under the guidance of the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, thereby contributing to the Cooperation Framework's implementation. Support liaison activities with the UN Country Team, responding to their requests for protocol assistance. Provide logistical and substantive support for incoming high-level UN delegations. Ensure the effective execution of protocol-related tasks that facilitate the fulfillment of mandates by the RCO and UN Country Team.
Work Experience
