Organizational Context
The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Policy, Knowledge Management and Coordination Branch (PKMCB) in New York seeks an intern. This role supports the Knowledge Management Unit within the Knowledge Management and Strategic Support Section. UNOCT leads UN system-wide counter-terrorism efforts, enhancing coordination, capacity-building, and advocacy.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the policy leadership and coordination functions of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism. The intern will work on policy matters related to preventing and countering terrorism and violent extremism. This role supports the UN's global strategy by assisting in research, analysis, and the preparation of various documents and knowledge products, contributing to the UN's efforts in maintaining international peace and security.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations, and slide decks. Responsibilities include attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, gathering and analyzing information from various sources, and conducting research on relevant topics. The intern will also help develop and maintain databases, support the review of key reports and publications, and perform other related duties as required to support the Policy, Knowledge Management and Coordination Branch's mandate.
