Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide essential technical, analytical, and monitoring support for the implementation of plastic waste activities under the Basel Convention. The Individual Contractor will contribute to the scientific and technical quality of the Secretariat's outputs by preparing high-quality technical documents, project reports, knowledge products, and other substantive documentation. This role also involves supporting technical meetings, workshops, and capacity-building activities, facilitating knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement. The contractor will ensure timely delivery of all assigned tasks, contributing to the effective implementation of project activities and technical assistance initiatives aimed at managing plastic waste globally.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality technical, analytical, and monitoring outputs to support plastic waste management activities under the Basel Convention. Prepare, review, and deliver technical documents, project reports, meeting materials, presentations, correspondence, and knowledge products in a timely manner. Provide technical support for the organization of technical meetings, workshops, webinars, and capacity-building activities, including preparing background documentation and training materials. Facilitate knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, and effective technical assistance delivery. Carry out other ad hoc tasks assigned by the supervisor in a timely and satisfactory manner. All work shall be delivered electronically unless otherwise requested.
Work Experience
At least five years of experience providing technical expertise and analytical support in chemicals, waste management, environmental protection, or sustainable development. Experience with plastic waste, circular economy, or hazardous chemicals is required. Experience supporting multilateral environmental agreements and international processes is desirable.
