The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority, setting the environmental agenda and promoting sustainable development. This role is within the UNEP Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Unit, supporting communications for the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) and other marine and coastal ecosystem initiatives. The position is based in Nairobi and is for a 12-month duration.
Job Purpose
The Multimedia and Graphic Design Consultant will enhance the visibility and reach of the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) and UNEP's marine ecosystem work across digital platforms. This involves creating engaging content for websites and social media, developing multimedia products, and supporting advocacy and partner engagement. The role contributes to strengthening GFCR's communications strategy, increasing engagement, and supporting resource mobilization efforts through compelling visual storytelling and effective dissemination of information. The consultant will also manage website content and contribute to newsletters and reports.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing and producing high-quality graphic materials, reports, publications, and campaign assets aligned with brand guidelines. The consultant will also film, edit, and package multimedia content, including case study videos and motion graphics, for various digital platforms. This involves managing a social media content pipeline, producing platform-specific assets, and supporting campaign initiatives. Additionally, the role requires designing and formatting the GFCR quarterly newsletter and managing website content updates. The consultant will also be responsible for the layout and visual presentation of technical publications and managing the GFCR photo and video repository.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in communications and environmental programmes. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams is necessary. Desirable experience includes event planning, webinar coordination, website development, and social media tools.
