The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in China leads the UN Country Team, comprising over 25 UN entities. Its mandate is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of UN operational activities at the country level, fostering partnerships for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role supports the RCO and the UN Communications Group (UNCG) in China.
Job Purpose
This role is central to producing high-quality communication products that support the UN's digital presence and visibility in China. The Multimedia Assistant will provide specialized multimedia and visual content support for joint UN communications initiatives, developing integrated content packages including videos and digital campaign materials. The purpose is to transform inputs from multiple UN entities into cohesive, audience-oriented outputs, ensuring visual and narrative consistency across platforms and contributing to the effective implementation of the communications strategy. The role also involves creative direction and translating complex SDG and policy content into compelling visual narratives for public audiences.
Responsibilities
The Multimedia Assistant will provide specialized multimedia and visual content support for UNCG joint communications initiatives, developing integrated content packages such as short videos, visual storytelling assets, and digital campaign materials. Responsibilities include transforming inputs from multiple UN entities into coherent, audience-oriented communications products, ensuring visual and narrative consistency, and adapting content for reuse across agencies and platforms. The role involves end-to-end multimedia production, including creative concept development, storyboarding, scripting, filming, editing, and post-production. Additionally, the incumbent will design high-quality visual assets for digital and print communications (posters, reports, presentations, campaign materials), develop content for the UN in China's website and social media, and provide multimedia production support for key events, including photography and video documentation.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in communications, media production, graphic design, or related fields is required. Demonstrated experience in managing social media platforms and producing original digital content is necessary. Strong experience in video production (filming and editing) and graphic design is essential. Experience supporting campaigns or communications for international organizations or SDG-related initiatives is advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in design and multimedia tools (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign). Strong creative direction and storytelling skills. Ability to translate complex ideas into engaging content. Strong teamwork skills for collaborative work in a fast-paced, multicultural, inter-agency environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently.
