Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. UNEP FI is a strategic partnership between the UN and over 500 financial institutions, driving the international sustainable finance agenda. This role supports the UNEP FI & GFANZ Africa regional networks, contributing to the alignment of the financial industry with the Paris Agreement and SDGs.
Job Purpose
This role serves as a Team Coordinator for the UNEP FI & GFANZ Africa regional networks, focusing on strengthening administrative, management, documentation, liaison, and communication functions. The purpose is to ensure the operational efficiency and effective delivery of activities for the Africa Network, working in close collaboration with the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). The coordinator will facilitate meetings, manage operational workflows, support the timely achievement of outcomes and impacts, and ensure cost-effective event management, thereby contributing to the acceleration of sustainable finance initiatives across Africa.
Responsibilities
Coordinate quarterly advisory board and working group meetings, ensuring efficient scheduling, follow-ups, and operational efficiency for the Africa Network. Support the timely delivery of outcomes and impacts of network activities and manage events cost-effectively. Develop and coordinate briefing materials and presentations for key meetings. Manage and archive important documentation, including meeting minutes, reports, and databases. Assist with administrative formalities for network staff, including onboarding and performance evaluation. Review and prioritize correspondence and tasks to meet deadlines. Liaise with UNEP-FI and the GFANZ Secretariat on management and administrative matters, including event planning and budget oversight. Support the development of annual regional workplans and strategic priorities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant practical experience in coordination and communication roles within a regional or international organization, particularly in development or finance-related fields, is required. Previous experience in Africa is desirable.

Excellent leadership and technical skills, strong interpersonal qualities for team management, ability to manage diverse tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment, ability to work collaboratively with diverse backgrounds, working knowledge of UNEP-FI and GFANZ objectives, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and stakeholder orientation, proficiency in standard office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
