Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, supports developing economies' export capabilities. The Office of Asia and Pacific (OAP) within the Division of Country Programmes (DCP) manages trade-related assistance projects in the region, focusing on LDCs and coordinating ITC activities for synergy and impact.
Job Purpose
This internship role supports the coordination, design, management, and communication of trade-related assistance projects within the Asia and Pacific region. The intern will contribute to ITC's mission of fostering inclusive and sustainable development through trade, working with various stakeholders across the trade value chain. The position offers practical experience in international trade cooperation and project implementation.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support in coordinating ITC's work in Asian and Pacific countries, including preparing briefing notes and conducting research. Responsibilities extend to project design support, such as drafting progress reports, work plans, and budgets, and analyzing project data. Day-to-day project management assistance includes organizing meetings, missions, and events, preparing training materials, and coordinating inputs from technical sections. Additionally, the intern will support external and internal communications by updating promotional materials, managing project websites or social media, and disseminating newsletters.
Work Experience
Prior work experience in the area of trade is an asset. Experience of having studied or worked in a developing country or country in transition is also beneficial. Participation in development initiatives, such as engagement with NGOs or associations focused on development, is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset. Skills in research and analysis, project document drafting, data analysis, event organization, and communication are beneficial.
