Organizational Context
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is a UN agency mandated to provide assistance and protection to approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across the Middle East. Its mission is to support their human development pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA operates extensive services including education, health, and social services, making it the largest UN operation in the region. The incumbent reports to a Senior TVET Instructor or Deputy Principal.
Job Purpose
This role supports the design, development, and facilitation of vocational training programs, specifically for General Electrician courses at the Siblin and Nahr El Bared Training Centers. The purpose is to deliver effective and inclusive learning experiences that equip Palestine refugees with essential occupational skills and competencies. This involves curriculum development, hands-on training delivery, assessment of student learning, and maintaining linkages with industry to ensure training relevance. The role also contributes to integrating new technologies, career guidance, and Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) principles into the training, aligning with UNRWA's TVET Quality Assurance Framework and promoting green and digital skills for enhanced employability.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine learning programs and curricula, including conducting competency analyses, drafting learning materials, and integrating emerging technologies and career guidance. Facilitate school-based and work-based learning by preparing training venues, utilizing facilities, selecting trainees, and developing inclusive lesson plans. Deliver training in classrooms, workshops, and workplaces, employing adult learning strategies and accommodating diverse needs, while mainstreaming Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) and core skills. Prepare and conduct formative and summative assessments, including practice-based and knowledge-based tests, developing assessment tools and plans. Maintain linkages with employers and industry professionals, utilizing labor market information to identify and address skills gaps. Apply quality assurance processes and support TVET greening and digitalization initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate teaching, maintain a respectful environment, and implement OSH measures.
Work Experience
This is an entry-level position (Grade 09) for a VT Instructor (General Electrician), therefore, no prior work experience is required.
