Job Purpose
This role supports UNRWA's mission by conducting assessments and providing assistance to Palestine refugees. The incumbent will perform desk studies and home visits to assess eligibility for social transfer and emergency assistance programs, collecting socioeconomic data and maintaining accurate records. The position involves identifying and referring refugees with protection risks or in need of further social work intervention. Additionally, the role ensures the timely delivery of approved assistance and participates in community surveys to analyze socio-economic trends. The incumbent will also contribute to professional development by participating in workshops and sharing knowledge with colleagues, ultimately contributing to the well-being and development of vulnerable refugee populations.
Responsibilities
Conduct desk studies and home visits for refugees applying for Social Transfer Assistance and Emergency Programmes, collecting socioeconomic data to determine eligibility. Maintain accurate records and update databases for families receiving assistance, completing social study reports. Identify and refer refugees facing protection risks or requiring additional social work intervention to the Area Social Work Supervisor. Recommend eligibility for short-term emergency cash or in-kind assistance based on initial site assessments. Monitor the timely delivery of approved assistance to eligible families and follow up on uncollected aid. Participate in surveys and studies within the refugee community to analyze socio-economic trends. Engage in professional development through workshops and meetings, sharing acquired knowledge with other Relief Workers. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including travel within the Field and potentially undertaking in-service training.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required in providing social work, psycho-social support, or counseling within development or humanitarian programs in governmental, non-governmental, or NGO organizations.
