Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat's Resident Coordinator System in Costa Rica is seeking an intern to support economic analysis. This role will assist the Economist Officer in data management, trend analysis, and reporting, contributing to strategic priorities and the UN Cooperation Framework.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide support to the Economist Officer within the UN Secretariat's Resident Coordinator System in Costa Rica. The intern will contribute to economic and data analysis, assisting in the collection, integration, and validation of economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases. This role is crucial for building analytical matrices, updating time series, and generating strategic reports that track structural trends, territorial gaps, and sector dynamics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The intern will also develop advanced visualizations for reports and national dialogues, and support the analysis of development financing, fiscal sustainability, and investment data, ultimately aiding in the UN's strategic objectives and UNCA process.
Responsibilities
Support the collection, integration, cleaning, and validation of economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases. Contribute to the creation and updating of analytical matrices, time series, and strategic indicators for monitoring structural trends, territorial gaps, and sector dynamics related to SDGs. Develop advanced visualizations, including charts, pivot tables, dashboards, and executive presentations, to aid in the interpretation of results for strategic reports and national dialogues. Assist in the systematization and preliminary analysis of official information for inputs on development financing, fiscal sustainability, public and private investment, and SDG financing gaps. Provide support in updating data repositories, monitoring tools, and tracking panels linked to the Cooperation Framework and the UNCA process. Perform other support functions related to economic analysis and data management as assigned within strategic priorities.
