Job Purpose
This role supports the effective implementation of the South Sudan component of the EU Operational Support to the IGAD Platform. The Project Manager will provide administrative, operational, and programme support, including coordination of schedules, meetings, missions, financial and procurement processes, documentation, and reporting. The position contributes to UN-Habitat's mandate by ensuring timely delivery of project results, promoting sustainable urban development, and facilitating durable solutions for displacement-affected communities through effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of the South Sudan component of the EU Operational Support to the IGAD Platform, ensuring alignment with regional objectives and timely delivery of results. This involves coordinating project schedules, meetings, missions, financial and procurement processes, and documentation. The role requires representing UN-Habitat in coordination meetings, supervising the project team, and reporting on progress, challenges, and lessons learned. It also involves liaising with key stakeholders, including government counterparts, UN agencies, and partners, to strengthen collaboration and monitor project performance against donor requirements and UN-Habitat standards. The position will also support field missions, analyze findings, facilitate workshops, and provide technical support for monitoring, evaluations, and knowledge product dissemination.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in project management or support within humanitarian, development, recovery, resilience, or displacement-related programs is required. Experience working with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, implementing partners, and community representatives is necessary. Experience in areas like durable solutions, housing, land rights, local governance, or climate resilience is desirable. Prior experience in South Sudan or a similar context is also required.
