Intern - Digital Transformation, Emerging Technologies and Data Governance

Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in North Macedonia coordinates UN Country Team (UNCT) efforts to support national development priorities and the 2030 Agenda. The RCO is enhancing its capacity in digital transformation, data governance, and AI adoption to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and the UN's digital presence in the country.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the UN RCO in North Macedonia's work on digital transformation, data governance, and capacity building across the UNCT. The intern will contribute to a more coordinated, evidence-based, and digitally enabled UN presence by assisting with the responsible adoption of digital tools, AI, and modern data practices. The role involves research, stakeholder engagement, organizing events, and supporting data management and analytics initiatives, directly contributing to the UN's strategic digital priorities.

Responsibilities

Support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives and research emerging technology trends. Engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, academia, and the private sector, and coordinate consultations and meetings. Assist in organizing workshops and dialogues on AI and digital transformation, and draft knowledge products. Support data governance, quality assurance, and management processes, including data collection, cleaning, and analysis. Develop dashboards and visual analytics products, and assist with reporting to systems like UN INFO. Provide technical support and training to UN staff on data visualization, analytics, and AI tools.

Work Experience

No professional work experience is required for UN internships. However, relevant academic projects, coursework, research, volunteering, or extracurricular experience related to digital transformation, data, or technology is considered an asset. Prior exposure to public policy, international development, or the UN system is also desirable.
