Job Purpose
The Logistics Assistant/Driver is responsible for providing comprehensive logistics and administrative support to the Regional Administrative Officer and Head of Office. This includes maintaining office facilities, coordinating administrative and logistics support with various mission components, and managing requisitions and asset transfers. The role ensures the continuity of services, supports the development and execution of logistics plans, and provides safe and timely transportation for personnel and documents. The position is vital for the efficient functioning of the mission's operations, particularly in supporting field personnel and ensuring the readiness of the vehicle fleet.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the Regional Administrative Officer and Head of Office in office maintenance, ensuring service continuity and equipment upkeep. The role involves coordinating administrative and logistics support with HQ and other mission components, assisting with requisitions, service entry sheets, and material request orders. Updating relevant databases, generating status reports on logistics matters, and supporting the development of emergency and contingency plans are also critical. The position requires driving vehicles safely for personnel and document transport, maintaining logs of official trips and vehicle usage, and ensuring adherence to UN rules in case of incidents. Daily maintenance of the vehicle fleet, including minor repairs and servicing coordination, is essential. The role also supports field logistics management, fuel control, facility maintenance, and coordination of field missions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in logistics operations, planning, supply chain management, or contracts administration is desirable. A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in providing driving services is required. Experience with word processing and spreadsheets is desirable, as is experience working with the UN or international organizations.
