Job Purpose
The Partnerships Officer provides strategic advice and support to the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team (UNCT) in Myanmar to foster partnerships for SDG achievement. This involves developing and implementing a UN Partnership Strategy aligned with the Transitional Cooperation Framework (TCF), engaging diverse stakeholders including civil society and the private sector, and identifying opportunities for collaboration. The role also supports resource mobilization initiatives, manages pooled funds where relevant, and contributes to financing for development strategies to accelerate TCF priorities and enhance UNCT engagement and resource generation.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer provides substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other TCF priorities. This includes advising on partnership strategies, facilitating UNCT working groups, liaising with UN entities, and serving as a key contact for external stakeholders. The role involves identifying partnership risks and opportunities, supporting due diligence, and developing locally tailored partnerships. Additionally, the officer participates in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, supports the management of pooled funds, and advises on strategies for financing TCF priorities. This includes analyzing funding streams, preparing proposals, and developing youth partnership strategies. The officer also contributes to knowledge management and capacity development related to partnerships and resource mobilization, promoting best practices and supporting data analysis for informed decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in strategic partnership support, project/programme management, and resource mobilization within humanitarian/development cooperation is required. Experience developing and implementing strategic partnerships with government, private sector, and civil society is essential. Experience in resource mobilization strategies and proposal preparation is also required. Desirable experience includes inclusion strategies, SDG financing, knowledge management, UN interagency coordination, and data analytics.
Skills
Professionalism in applying sustainable development concepts, conducting research, and managing data. Strong planning and organizing skills to set goals, prioritize tasks, and manage resources efficiently. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and engage in two-way dialogue.
