The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Skopje supports youth engagement, volunteerism, and advocacy to advance Sustainable Development Goals. This internship focuses on the "Future Makers Programme," a joint initiative with the SustainEd University Coalition, aiming to foster youth leadership, civic engagement, and sustainable development awareness among students.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Skopje by advancing youth engagement and participation across various UN initiatives. The role will specifically focus on the "Future Makers Programme," contributing to volunteerism efforts, advocacy, and strengthening partnerships with youth organizations. The intern will play a key role in coordinating programme activities, assisting in the organization of youth engagement events, supporting volunteerism initiatives, and facilitating communication with participants, mentors, and stakeholders to promote youth involvement in sustainable development and UN campaigns.
Responsibilities
Support the coordination and implementation of the "Future Makers Programme," including managing communications with participants, mentors, partners, and stakeholders, organizing meetings, and developing meeting notes and presentations. Assist in organizing youth engagement activities, workshops, consultations, campaigns, and events. Support the development and implementation of volunteerism initiatives and programmes for young people. Mobilize youth participation in UN campaigns, events, and sustainable development initiatives. Engage with youth organizations, networks, educational institutions, and civil society partners. Maintain communication with youth participants and partners, facilitating follow-up actions. Support advocacy efforts related to youth participation, volunteerism, and sustainable development. Assist in preparing communication and visibility materials, presentations, briefing notes, and social media content.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, previous involvement in youth organizations, volunteer initiatives, student associations, youth councils, or civil society activities related to sustainable development, civic engagement, or youth participation is desirable. Experience in organizing youth activities, events, or campaigns is also beneficial.
Skills
Proficiency in standard software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, Google Workspace). Strong communication, networking, and facilitation skills. Interest in sustainable development, volunteerism, youth participation, and civic engagement. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian is desirable.
