Job Purpose
The Programme Management Assistant provides crucial support to the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Banjul, The Gambia. This role is instrumental in the planning, coordination, and implementation of key analytical products, such as the Common Country Analysis (CCA) update. The incumbent will research, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data related to development priorities, SDG achievement, and UN Cooperation Framework implementation. By managing information, facilitating inter-agency consultations, and supporting the preparation of various reports and knowledge products, the assistant contributes to evidence-based decision-making, policy dialogue, and the acceleration of SDG efforts within the country, working under the guidance of the Head of the RCO.
Responsibilities
The Programme Management Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of RCO activities, particularly the Common Country Analysis (CCA) and other analytical products. Key duties include researching, compiling, analyzing, and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data relevant to development priorities and SDG achievement. The role involves assisting in the collection and organization of information from diverse stakeholders, maintaining knowledge management tools, and preparing analytical inputs for review. The assistant will serve as a focal point for coordinating consultations and inter-agency engagements, preparing meeting materials, and tracking follow-up actions. Responsibilities also extend to drafting, formatting, and managing analytical products, collaborating on reports to support decision-making, and assisting with data analysis and presentation. Furthermore, the role includes managing information systems, drafting correspondence, and supporting the integration of data analytics and digital tools within RCO operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in programmatic/project support, administration, or technical support is required. This is reduced to two years for candidates with a first-level university degree. One year of experience in data analytics is desirable. Experience within the UN system or a similar international organization is required. Experience with organizing activities, follow-up, tracking tools, and knowledge of legal, budgeting, and financial processes is also desirable.
