Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to enhance the UN Secretariat's capacity in programme management and strategic initiative delivery. This will involve producing high-quality analytical products to support leadership decision-making and identifying improvements to internal processes, tools, and workflows. Ultimately, the role contributes to improving operational efficiency, enhancing information management, and fostering a more coherent and predictable implementation environment for critical UN initiatives, ensuring alignment and timely progress across various entities.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for comprehensive project management, including planning, scheduling, and implementing initiatives, maintaining workplans, and tracking milestones. This involves coordinating with UN system counterparts to ensure information flow and activity alignment, and preparing briefing materials for senior leadership. The role also includes providing analytical and research support by conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, synthesizing complex information into actionable insights and recommendations, and drafting presentations. Furthermore, the consultant will identify and propose improvements to streamline workflows and enhance initiative delivery, supporting the development of project management tools. Stakeholder engagement is crucial, involving coordinating inputs from UN entities, following up on actions, and documenting decisions, as well as supporting the facilitation of workshops and consultations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3-7 years of experience in project or programme management, process improvement, or organizational strategy is required. Desirable experience includes working in professional services or consulting, designing and implementing organization-wide change management initiatives, and preparing high-quality presentation materials.
