International Drug Control Consultants

Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) seeks International Drug Control Consultants to deliver specialized lectures and academic sessions for the Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme. These consultants will operate under the direct supervision of a UNODC Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer and the overall guidance of the Representative for the GCC Region.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to contribute expertise to the Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme by preparing and delivering specialized lectures and academic sessions. Consultants will develop and adapt lecture materials, provide technical input for course content aligned with international standards, and create assessment tools. They will also evaluate student work, provide feedback, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the programme's content and delivery methods, ensuring high academic standards and effective participant engagement. The role supports UNODC's mandate in drug control and crime prevention.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver specialized lectures and academic sessions within the consultant's area of expertise for the Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme. Develop and adapt lecture materials, presentations, and supporting resources to align with the programme's objectives and structure. Provide technical and subject-matter input to support the development and delivery of course content, adhering to international standards and methodologies. Create examination materials, including assessment questions and tools, for assigned sessions. Review, assess, and evaluate examination scripts and assignments, providing structured grading and feedback to participants. Contribute to the continuous improvement of course content and delivery approaches based on teaching experience and participant feedback.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in areas such as drug treatment, toxicology, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, social reintegration, public health, research, or statistical analysis is required. Experience in delivering academic or professional training, including curriculum development and lecture delivery, is also mandatory. Experience in training or technical assistance within the GCC and/or MENA region is desirable.

Skills

Expertise in drug control and the international drug control and crime prevention regime. Experience in academic or professional training, curriculum development, and lecture delivery. Strong analytical and assessment skills for evaluating student work. Ability to provide constructive feedback. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is also required for this position. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
