Organizational Context
The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) provides support to various Haitian entities and international organizations. This role is within the Warehouse Operations Section in Port au Prince, reporting to the Chief of Section, Centralised Warehouse. The incumbent manages warehouse operations, including budget, personnel, and strategic planning for mission inventory.
Job Purpose
The Chief of Unit, Centralised Warehousing, P4, is responsible for the overall planning, administration, organization, and centralized management of warehouse operations within UNSOH. This includes overseeing inbound and outbound logistics, inventory control, and storage management, while ensuring adherence to safety and security standards. The role involves developing and implementing effective stock control systems, leveraging business intelligence for supply chain optimization, and managing the unit's budget and personnel. A key aspect is translating policies into actionable plans, improving processes, and ensuring efficient resource utilization, including the application of Green SCOR principles to minimize environmental impact.
Responsibilities
Manage and administer centralized warehousing operations, including inbound (receiving, batch management) and outbound (order fulfillment, packing) logistics. Oversee inventory and storage management, conducting analysis, cycle counts, and physical inventories. Develop and implement effective stock control and audit systems, providing insights on stock levels and re-order points. Utilize business intelligence tools to enhance supply chain responsiveness and reliability. Ensure warehouse safety, security, and optimal space utilization. Manage the unit's budget, personnel needs, and performance, including staff development and appraisals. Prepare annual work plans and monitor progress. Develop strategies for warehouse inventories and collaborate with technical units on demand forecasting. Implement new business processes and standard operating procedures, and contribute to the re-engineering of supply chain processes, potentially supporting ERP system implementation. Establish Service Level Agreements with technical units.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in logistics planning, warehouse management, inventory management, or distribution within a complex organization is required. This includes at least two years of management experience in centralized warehousing. Experience in international environments, with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and with data analytics/visualization tools is desirable.
