Job Purpose
This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of UNRWA's registration system for Palestine refugees. The incumbent will process and verify registration applications, ensuring all documentation is authentic and accurate. Key responsibilities include managing new registrations for newborns, updating records for deceased individuals, and initiating applications for births, deaths, transfers, and family splits. The position also involves scanning essential documents, assisting in maintaining the computerized registration database through data entry and retrieval, and issuing new registration cards while collecting old ones. The role requires responding to refugee queries regarding registration matters and potentially acting on behalf of the Area Registration Officer in their absence, ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of registration processes.
Responsibilities
The Registration Assistant is responsible for meticulously receiving, checking, and verifying the authenticity of documentation submitted with registration applications to ensure accuracy before further processing. This includes reviewing and approving applications for newborn registrations and processing deletions for deceased individuals from the records. The role involves initiating all types of registration applications, such as births, deaths, transfers, and family splits, to maintain an up-to-date registration system. Additionally, the incumbent will scan required documents to ensure they are properly filed in the system and assist in maintaining the computerized registration database by entering, amending, and retrieving information. The position also entails printing and distributing new registration cards, collecting old ones as instructed, and maintaining sorted index cards for efficient access and retrieval. The role may also involve acting for the Area Registration Officer during their absence and performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience is required. Candidates must also accurately disclose all current outside activities, including employment, freelance work, board memberships, and volunteer activities.
