Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), part of the UN Secretariat's Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO), support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs. This reform-driven initiative, anchored in UN 2.0 principles, operates under an empowered UN Resident Coordinator. The position is situated within the RCO in Aden, Yemen, reporting to the Head of the RCO/Team Leader.
Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for safely transporting authorized personnel and general cargo goods. This includes making deliveries between offices and institutions, performing minor purchases, and collecting goods from customs. The role also involves meeting official personnel at the airport, facilitating immigration and customs, and maintaining effective interactions with officials and visitors. Additionally, the driver ensures the assigned vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and insured, reporting any damages or losses. The position also supports data collection, analysis, and the updating of information materials, contributing to the efficient operation of the Resident Coordinator's Office.
Responsibilities
The Driver's primary duties include operating vehicles safely for personnel and cargo transport, and making deliveries of documents and parcels. Responsibilities extend to conducting minor purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers, as well as managing customs procedures for collected goods. The role involves meeting and assisting official personnel at the airport with immigration and customs formalities. Essential duties include the daily maintenance of assigned vehicles, performing minor repairs, and ensuring vehicles are kept clean and insured. The Driver must accurately log fuel consumption and maintenance records, and follow all procedures in case of an accident. Furthermore, the role supports data collection, analysis, and the preparation of reports and information materials, alongside performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans, is necessary. Experience working with senior diplomatic officials or international organizations like the UN is desirable. Additional experience in data analytics is also considered a plus.
