PARTNERSHIPS OFFICER

Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) support countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs, operating under the UN's global reform. This role is within the UN RCO in Mali, reporting to the Senior Development Coordination Officer. The position focuses on strategic partnerships for SDG achievement, involving non-monetary collaborations and joint initiatives with external partners.

Job Purpose

This role provides substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other entities to advance SDG achievements. It involves advising on partnership strategies, facilitating collaboration, and acting as a key liaison for external stakeholders. The position also supports resource mobilization initiatives, including managing pooled funds for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and promotes partnerships to finance SDG acceleration. Furthermore, it contributes to knowledge management and capacity development in partnerships and resource mobilization at the country level, working closely with RCO economists and communications officers.

Responsibilities

The role involves providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT partnerships with civil society, private sector, and other stakeholders to achieve SDGs. This includes advising on partnership strategies, supporting working groups, liaising with UN entities, and serving as a key contact for external partners. The position also participates in partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, supporting the management of pooled funds for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and developing locally tailored resource mobilization strategies. It promotes partnerships to support SDG financing by advising on financing options and engaging with private sector, civil society, and development partners. Additionally, the role contributes to knowledge management and capacity development by promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and maintaining a repository of potential donors.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressive experience in strategic partnership support, project/programme management, and resource mobilization within development cooperation is required. Experience in developing and implementing strategic partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society is essential. Experience in resource mobilization strategies and preparing project proposals is also required. Experience in knowledge management, applied partnerships in specific thematic areas, financing for SDGs, UN interagency coordination, and data analytics are desirable.
