Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Togo operates under the UN Secretariat's reformed Development System, supporting the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. Led by an empowered Resident Coordinator, the RCO collaborates with UN entities and country-level stakeholders. This role supports the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team (UNCT) in developing and managing strategic partnerships for SDG advancement.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Officer provides crucial support to the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team (UNCT) in Togo, focusing on developing and implementing strategic partnerships to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role involves advising on partnership strategies, facilitating engagement with civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. The officer will help package UN value propositions for partners, manage due diligence, and support the development of locally tailored partnerships. Additionally, the position contributes to knowledge management and capacity development within the UN system regarding partnerships and resource mobilization, ensuring alignment with UN reform initiatives and the UN 2.0 shift.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer is responsible for providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other entities for SDG achievement. This includes advising on and implementing the UN Partnership Strategy, supporting UNCT working groups, and liaising with UN entities globally. The role involves serving as a key contact for external stakeholders, building interfaces with development partners, and supporting risk/opportunity identification for partnerships. The officer will also participate in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, support the management of pooled funds, and advise on resource mobilization strategies and funding frameworks. Collaboration with the RCO Economist and finance experts is essential to promote partnerships for SDG financing. Furthermore, the role contributes to knowledge management, capacity development, and data analysis related to partnerships and resource mobilization.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic partnership support, project/programme management, and resource mobilization within development cooperation is required. Experience developing partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society is essential. Experience in designing and implementing partnerships, resource mobilization strategies, and preparing project proposals is also required. Experience in data analytics and applied partnerships in specific areas like food systems or digital transformation is desirable.
