Job Purpose
This Associate Data Specialist role supports the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Lome, Togo, by developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, and analytics to optimize statistical efficiency and quality. The position contributes to identifying trends, improving data processes, and creating reports and dashboards for management. It also involves collaborating with internal and external counterparts to share best practices and support data-driven decision-making, aligning with the UN's reform efforts and the UN 2.0 agenda.
Responsibilities
Implement and maintain databases, data collection systems, and analytics to enhance statistical efficiency and quality. Analyze and interpret trends using statistical methods, identifying key features and variables. Acquire, clean, and manage data from various sources, implementing process improvements for data analytics tasks. Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings and support decision-making. Track progress on data initiatives, gather business requirements, and compile data insights for stakeholder communications. Stay updated on data analytics best practices and technologies. Assist in data preparation for model assessments and contribute to capacity-building activities on data analytics. Support team members with data verification, routine reporting, and administrative tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions is required. Desirable experience includes quality assurance of data analysis, data validation, data storytelling, using visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), understanding the data life cycle, and project management.
