Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and expert advice on communications, stakeholder engagement, governance, and partnerships for the Relief and Social Services Department (RSSD) Archive Initiative. The Specialist will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance the initiative's visibility, ensure its successful implementation, and promote its long-term sustainability. By cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and partners, the role aims to strengthen collaboration, advocacy, and institutional support, ultimately contributing to the achievement of program objectives and the strategic positioning of the UNRWA Archive Initiative.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic communications and stakeholder engagement plans aligned with the Archive Initiative's objectives. Provide expert communications advice to the Director, RSSD, including preparing briefing materials, presentations, and reports. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, such as Palestinian communities, donors, academic and cultural institutions, and professional networks. Support the establishment and operationalization of governance and advisory mechanisms for the Initiative, coordinating meetings and facilitating engagement. Oversee communications and outreach activities to enhance awareness, knowledge sharing, and institutional visibility. Identify and pursue opportunities to strengthen partnerships and external engagement. Monitor communications and stakeholder engagement efforts, reporting findings and recommendations to senior management.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in strategic communications, public affairs, external relations, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, or advocacy is required. This includes at least two years of international experience outside the candidate's home country. Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies for complex programs, advising senior management, and managing strategic partnerships is essential.
