Disability Inclusion National Support Officer
Organizational Context
The UNRWA Programme Protection & Neutrality Department, based at Headquarters Amman, seeks a Disability Inclusion National Support Officer. This consultancy role focuses on supporting the implementation of UNRWA's disability policies and guidelines across various program areas, contributing to disability mainstreaming and protection initiatives for Palestine refugees with disabilities.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide technical support and expertise to integrate disability inclusion across all UNRWA programmes and operations. This involves assisting in the development and updating of technical guidance, tools, and resources, and contributing to the design and implementation of targeted protection initiatives for Palestine refugees with disabilities. The role also supports coordination, knowledge management, and capacity development to ensure UNRWA's commitment to disability inclusion is effectively met and reported against relevant standards, such as UNDIS. The objective is to enhance the quality and impact of UNRWA's services for persons with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the implementation of UNRWA's Disability Policy and Inclusion Guidelines, including reviewing and updating guidance, tools, and standard operating procedures. Offer technical input for programme design, policy documents, and project proposals, ensuring disability inclusion is integrated across education, health, protection, relief, social services, infrastructure, and emergency response. Support the design and implementation of protection initiatives for Palestine refugees with disabilities, developing guidance on case management, referrals, and accessibility. Monitor disability inclusion commitments, compile and analyze disability-disaggregated data, and contribute to organizational reporting. Coordinate disability inclusion activities across departments and field offices, and support engagement with external partners. Contribute to knowledge management by supporting research, preparing knowledge products, and documenting best practices. Assist in developing and delivering capacity-building initiatives and provide operational and administrative support for workplans and meetings.
Work Experience
Requires six years of progressively responsible professional experience in humanitarian action, international development, protection, and disability inclusion. Demonstrated experience in supporting disability-inclusive programming is essential. Experience with UN agencies, international organizations, or NGOs is highly desirable, as is experience in project coordination and technical reporting.
