Job Purpose
This consultant role supports UN-Habitat's Canada Office by consolidating research outputs and knowledge products related to adequate housing, climate-smart housing, and urban development. The position contributes to strengthening the office's housing program and facilitates the global exchange of Canadian expertise in sustainable and inclusive housing. The role involves applied research, data management, and knowledge management activities, aiming to advance actionable recommendations for realizing the right to adequate housing within global frameworks like the New Urban Agenda and SDGs.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and analytical support for the Canada Office's research and knowledge management agenda on adequate housing, with a focus on accessibility. Conduct applied research on housing adequacy, inclusive housing innovation, and sustainable urban development. Support project management, knowledge management, coordination, and administrative tasks. Develop and maintain knowledge management tools, capacity-building materials, and content for webinars or policy briefs. Design and implement research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) for data collection, analysis, and visualization. Develop innovative formats for communicating research findings. Support the mapping, analysis, and management of housing-related data sources. Organize and facilitate meetings and workshops. Contribute to strategic partnerships and provide inputs to UN-Habitat initiatives and global events.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in research methodologies, quantitative and qualitative analysis tools, survey design, and documenting research outputs is required. Experience in analyzing frameworks for accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive housing design and policy is desirable. Progressively responsible work experience in housing systems, sustainable urban development, and knowledge management is desirable.
