UNCTAD Internship in the Division on International Trade and Commodities

Organizational Context

Job Purpose

The purpose of this internship is to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in international trade and commodities, focusing on competition and consumer policies. The intern will support the Division on International Trade and Commodities by conducting research, assisting in drafting documents for intergovernmental meetings, preparing presentations, and contributing to the organization of webinars and technical cooperation activities. This role aims to enhance the intern's educational experience and understanding of the UN's work in trade and development, while contributing to the branch's objectives.

Responsibilities

The intern will conduct legal and economic research on emerging issues in competition and consumer protection laws and policies, analyzing information and presenting findings. Responsibilities include assisting in drafting background papers for intergovernmental meetings and preparing presentation materials for events. The intern will attend meetings and prepare summary reports, and contribute to the organization of webinars and technical cooperation activities. Additionally, the intern will assist in the implementation of technical cooperation programs and perform other related duties as required, gaining exposure to UNCTAD's operational activities.

Work Experience

No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship's focus on competition and consumer policies is necessary. Applicants must meet the specified university degree enrollment or completion criteria.
