This internship is within the Office for Coordination and Shared Services in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and Peace Operations (DPO). DPPA focuses on preventing and resolving conflict through inclusive political solutions, while DPO directs UN peacekeeping operations globally. This role supports broader gender parity efforts for uniformed personnel in UN peacekeeping.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide programmatic support for the implementation of gender parity strategies for uniformed personnel within UN Peacekeeping Operations. This includes supporting the coordination of an online network for uniformed women peacekeepers, facilitating peer exchange and learning through various online events and resources. The role aims to contribute to advancing gender equality within UN peacekeeping missions by connecting female peacekeepers and fostering a supportive community. The intern will assist in conceptualizing, organizing, and executing events, drafting communications, and maintaining information resources to enhance the effectiveness of gender parity initiatives.
Responsibilities
The intern will support gender parity efforts for uniformed personnel and the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers. Key duties include conceptualizing, organizing, and executing online and other events and meetings. The intern will assist in drafting, formatting, and editing reports, communication materials, and other written products. Responsibilities also involve supporting the creation and maintenance of an online information repository, collecting, analyzing, and visualizing quantitative and qualitative information, and attending events to provide insights through meeting notes. Additionally, the intern will conduct research on relevant topics, synthesize information, and implement activities to support the office's gender parity strategies.

Candidates should possess relevant coursework in areas such as public policy, strategy design, project management, marketing, business/public administration, political science, information management, public relations, communication/journalism, or data analysis and visualization.
Skills
Computer literacy in standard word processing and spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel). Demonstrated keen interest in the UN's work and commitment to the UN Charter. Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Skills in research, information synthesis, data analysis, and visualization are beneficial. Event conceptualization, organization, and execution. Drafting, formatting, and editing reports and communications.
