Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) Programme's closeout and legacy phase by producing data-driven knowledge products. This includes developing robust data, dashboards, and analytical tools to strengthen UNCTAD's capacity in synthesizing evidence, supporting donor engagement, improving trade databases for environmental goods and services, and fostering AI-enabled innovation. The work aims to consolidate lessons learned, preserve institutional memory, and identify opportunities for future policy impact and resource mobilization, ensuring the programme's lasting value and contribution to sustainable development goals.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the SMEP Programme's closeout by creating data-driven cases, visualizations, factsheets, presentations, dashboards, and targeted studies that synthesize results, lessons learned, and legacy impact. The role involves developing and maintaining trade-monitor dashboards for environmental goods and services sectors. It also requires compiling, cleaning, documenting, and analyzing trade, tariff, and market data, converting it into accessible formats. Collaboration with UNCTAD Statistics teams for dataset development and support for bridge activities between SMEP and proposed new programs are essential. Additionally, the role will involve knowledge extraction from programme reports and prototyping AI-enabled workflows for document analysis and data integration.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressive work experience in international trade, data analysis, data visualization, or financial statistics is required. Experience with AI-enabled knowledge management, local LLMs, and responsible AI prototyping is also required. Experience in trade and environment issues, environmental goods and services, circular economy, or sustainable materials is desirable.
