Job Purpose
This six-month, full-time, in-person, unpaid internship at UNDRR in Geneva aims to support the Intergovernmental Processes, Interagency Cooperation and Partnerships Branch. The intern will contribute to understanding and communicating national disaster risk reduction (DRR) financing systems. The role involves data collection, analysis, and the development of communication materials to raise awareness about the Global Observatory on DRR Financing, directly supporting UNDRR's mandate to reduce disaster risk and promote resilience.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the analysis of national DRR financing systems by collecting and organizing relevant information, potentially utilizing Microsoft CoPilot. Responsibilities include contributing to the development of communication materials, such as infographics and videos, to promote the Global Observatory on DRR Financing. The role also involves data visualization using tools like MS Power BI to present findings on DRR financing systems. Additionally, the intern will draft analytical notes, background briefs, and sections of reports, and provide ad hoc support for meetings, events, and collaborative projects, including preparing minutes and talking points.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a strong academic background in a relevant field is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have already completed such a program.
Skills
Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to collect, organize, and analyze information. Skills in developing communication materials and data visualization. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
