Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Health Care Center (UNHCC) provides core and non-core health services to UN staff and eligible dependents in Ethiopia. This role operates within the Administration and Conference Management Division, contributing to the overall health and well-being of the UN community through specialized physiotherapy services.
Job Purpose
The Physiotherapy Doctor at the UN Health Care Center is responsible for delivering comprehensive physiotherapy services to UN personnel, their families, and eligible beneficiaries. This role is crucial for promoting physical health, facilitating rehabilitation, and ensuring functional recovery within the UN community. The purpose is to achieve improved patient outcomes, foster enhanced multidisciplinary collaboration, and maintain the highest standards of medical ethics, professionalism, and quality assurance in patient care.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough physical assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans. Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and modalities for pain management and rehabilitation. Educate patients on self-management, injury prevention, and the importance of physical activity. Maintain accurate patient reports and documentation for referring clinicians. Consult with medical staff on physiotherapy findings and recommend further actions. Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of physiotherapy equipment and adhere to infection control protocols. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to comprehensive patient management plans.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in providing physiotherapy services is required. Experience working within a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment is beneficial.
