Organizational Context

The Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) requires an Electrician to ensure the continuous and safe operation of electrical systems within its premises. This role is crucial for maintaining a functional work environment and preventing disruptions. The position is based in Beirut and is for an expected duration of 6 months.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to prevent and resolve any electrical problems or malfunctions within the UNSCOL premises. The Electrician will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, testing, and wiring of all electrical apparatus. This includes ensuring all installations meet architectural and code specifications, running conduit, and testing connections. The role also involves assisting with mechanical repairs related to electrical systems and performing periodic inspections. A key aspect is the availability to respond to emergencies 24/7, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining the operational integrity of the office facilities.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, testing, and wiring of all electrical apparatus within UNSCOL premises. Ensure all electrical components are installed according to architectural and code specifications. Install and run wires through conduit, and test wiring connections using appropriate equipment such as volt/ohmmeters and oscilloscopes. Test and repair electrical-based equipment, and assist with mechanical repairs related to electrical systems, including 3-phase industrial breakers and machine control panels. Conduct periodic inspections of electrical equipment, and test or replace circuit breakers and switches as needed. Provide emergency electrical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, reporting to the premises promptly when called to address issues.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of experience in electrical repair and maintenance, or a closely related field, is required. Experience with testing equipment and performing mechanical repairs related to electrical systems is also necessary.
