Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), part of the UN DESA, supports Member States in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Established in 2011, UNOSD focuses on key SDGs and collaborates with the Republic of Korea, Incheon Metropolitan City, and Yonsei University. This internship is within the Division for Sustainable Development Goals.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) in its mission to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The intern will contribute to UNOSD's activities by conducting research, analyzing policies, and disseminating information related to sustainable development goals. This role involves assisting in the organization of international events, developing communication materials, and maintaining data platforms. The intern will gain practical experience in project management and sustainable development initiatives, supporting UNOSD's partnerships and capacity-building efforts, particularly for LDCs, SIDS, and LLDCs. The position offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to global sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities
Conduct research, data recording, editing, policy analysis, and synthesis. Develop and maintain platforms for disseminating UNOSD data, news, and research via social media and other channels. Draft and/or translate communication materials for events and research products. Assist with the logistics of organizing UNOSD flagship and annual activities, including forums, conferences, trainings, and workshops. Perform administrative and clerical tasks supporting these activities. Undertake any other assigned duties to contribute to the office's objectives. This role requires active participation in event planning and execution, as well as content creation and data management.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience in organizing international conferences, forums, or events is desirable. Experience conducting research, particularly related to environmental issues, is also considered an advantage.
Skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Proficiency in writing and drafting complex documents in English. Research and data analysis capabilities. Event logistics and organization support. Communication material drafting and translation. Social media platform management.
