Organizational Context

The United Nations Information Centres (UNICs) are part of the Department of Global Communications' Outreach Division, crucial for sharing the UN's story globally. This internship is based at UNIC Dakar, supporting communication activities through visual content creation and event coverage to enhance the visibility of UN messages and initiatives.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the communication activities of UNIC Dakar by producing visual content, assisting with graphic design, and covering events. The role contributes to increasing the visibility of UN messages, campaigns, and initiatives. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNIC Director or National Information Officer, gaining practical experience in digital communication and media production within a UN setting. The position is for 3-6 months, full-time, and is unpaid, requiring the intern to cover their own expenses.

Responsibilities

Assist in covering UN events, campaigns, and activities through photography, videography, and editing. Select, edit, and organize visual content according to UN communication standards. Create infographics, social media visuals, and basic graphic materials. Adapt visual content for various digital platforms and social media channels. Produce and edit video content. Perform other communication-related tasks as required to support UNIC's objectives and enhance the visibility of UN messages.

Work Experience

No specific work experience is explicitly required, but a demonstrated interest in visual communication, digital content, or media production is desirable. Applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications relevant to graphic design and video editing.
