The Industry and Economy Division encourages sustainable practices in governments and industries. The Chemicals and Health Branch focuses on sound chemical and waste management, including projects on hazardous chemicals in supply chains and mercury use in artisanal gold mining.
Job Purpose
This role provides crucial administrative support to UNEP's Chemicals and Health Branch, specifically within the Chemicals Science and Policy Unit (CSPU). The primary purpose is to ensure the timely and accurate processing of participant reimbursements and to contribute to the successful organization of key international meetings and forums. These events are vital for advancing global environmental agendas, such as eliminating hazardous chemicals from supply chains and promoting responsible artisanal gold mining. The role directly supports the operational efficiency of these critical initiatives, facilitating effective collaboration and progress towards UNEP's environmental objectives.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for intergovernmental meetings, including the ISP-CWP informal technical meeting and its resumed session, the GEF 8 Global Supply Chains Forum, and the planetGOLD Global Forum. Process participant reimbursement cases accurately and efficiently. Assist with the overall branch's corporate exercises, such as managing bank card reimbursements. Ensure smooth logistical arrangements for meetings and events. Contribute to the effective functioning of the Chemicals and Health Branch by managing administrative tasks related to ongoing projects and initiatives, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of administrative experience is required, with at least three years specifically in processing intergovernmental meeting participant travel and supporting meeting logistics. Experience in administration within the United Nations System or a similar international organization is also required, as is experience providing international intergovernmental meeting support services.
Skills
Proficiency in ERP applications for travel administration. Strong computer skills, including web-based platforms, word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, internal databases, and online meeting platforms. Experience in administrative support within international organizations. Ability to process participant reimbursements and manage meeting logistics.
