Individual Contractor to Support a Project on the Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Youth in Jordan
Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is implementing the project “From Dependence to Dignity: Economic Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities and Youth in Jordan.” This initiative aims to address rising youth inequality and the marginalization of persons with disabilities in Jordan by fostering inclusive employment opportunities and economic participation. The role supports ESCWA's mandate in advancing disability inclusion and youth empowerment across the Arab region.
Job Purpose
This role supports the "From Dependence to Dignity" project in Jordan, focusing on the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities and youth. The primary purpose is to ensure effective project implementation, leading to better preparation for employment and active connection to inclusive opportunities for these target groups. By enhancing skills, improving employability, and facilitating job matching through the Josour Initiative, the role contributes to greater economic participation, autonomy, and independence for marginalized individuals. It also supports policy reform and practical interventions to reduce inequalities and promote decent work, aligning with ESCWA's regional mandate for inclusive development and its specific support to Jordan's national strategy for disability economic empowerment.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative and logistical support for project implementation, including meetings, workshops, and policy dialogues. Draft and respond to routine correspondence and communications. Compile, organize, and edit information for project reports, work plans, and presentations. Proofread and edit project documents for accuracy and clarity. Prepare presentation and communication materials. Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Josour platform, including regular updates and user support. Assist in awareness campaigns to increase user enrollment, particularly for persons with disabilities. Support the mapping and engagement of potential partners. Assist in collecting and analyzing data on training participation and employment outcomes. Coordinate with stakeholders on Josour's national chapters and contribute to project evaluations to ensure inclusivity and responsiveness to beneficiary needs.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight years of progressively responsive experience in general office support or a related area is required. Experience in similar development projects is desirable, as is familiarity with e-platforms management. Previous UN experience is also considered an asset.
