The Industry and Economy Division focuses on providing solutions for economic decision-makers and fostering a sustainable business environment. This role supports the Chemicals and Pollution Action Subprogramme within this division.
Job Purpose
This role provides crucial technical, coordination, monitoring, reporting, analytical, and knowledge management support to enhance the effective implementation of UNEP’s Chemicals and Pollution Action Subprogramme. The objective is to ensure strong alignment with UNEP’s Medium-Term Strategy (MTS) 2026-2029 and Programme of Work (PoW) 2026-2027. This involves managing project pipelines, conducting reviews, ensuring quality of project concepts, developing planning tools, consolidating reporting, and analyzing programme interlinkages to foster coherence and synergies across pollution-related activities.
Responsibilities
Provide technical, coordination, monitoring, reporting, analytical, and knowledge management support for the Chemicals and Pollution Action Subprogramme. Track and review the project portfolio, ensuring quality assurance for project concepts and documents. Develop and implement planning and monitoring tools, and guide on Integrated Programme Management and Reporting (IPMR) workflows. Consolidate inputs for corporate and donor reporting, and prepare briefing materials for governance bodies. Analyze programme interlinkages and strategic priorities. Organize and document coordination meetings and pollution dialogues, follow up on action points, and maintain a knowledge repository. Prepare synthesis briefs on lessons learned, good practices, challenges, and opportunities across the portfolio.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in programme coordination, strategic planning, monitoring and reporting, or environmental programme implementation is required. Experience in chemicals, pollution, waste management, circular economy, or environmental governance is preferred. Experience with development projects in developing countries is an asset.
