Organizational Context
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) seeks an Individual Contractor to support the implementation and coordination of activities under the GGSP COTONI project in Benin. This role provides operational, coordination, and analytical support to the Project Manager and the Regional Advisory Programme, ensuring effective project monitoring and reporting to donor counterparts.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive support for the GGSP COTONI project in Benin, under the supervision of the Interregional Advisor. The Individual Contractor will ensure the smooth implementation and monitoring of project activities by offering operational, coordination, and analytical assistance. This includes managing day-to-day activities, coordinating with national stakeholders, preparing project documentation, and facilitating meetings and workshops. The role is crucial for maintaining project timelines, tracking deliverables, and ensuring accurate, results-based reporting to UNCTAD, partners, and donors, thereby contributing to trade facilitation and productive capacity development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting the Project Manager with daily coordination of GGSP COTONI project activities, including work plan follow-up and stakeholder engagement in Benin. The role involves contributing to project management by maintaining work plans, tracking deliverables, and preparing management tools for reporting. This includes assisting in the preparation of implementation updates, briefing notes, and progress reports, and consolidating inputs for donor and internal reporting. Analytical support involves compiling and organizing trade data, creating visualizations, and preparing background materials on trade facilitation. The contractor will also maintain project timelines and assist in sequencing activities for timely delivery and effective coordination with partners. Finally, logistical support for meetings, workshops, and missions, including documentation and coordination with administrative services, is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 year of experience in management, economics, or a related field is required. Experience in project coordination, monitoring, and reporting within an international development context is desirable.
