Organizational Context

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a Research Analyst to support its Future of Work initiative. This role will contribute to preparing ESCWA countries for the Fourth Industrial Revolution by analyzing job market trends and skills demand. The position is based remotely.

Job Purpose

The Research Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing the accuracy and utility of Machine Learning models used in the ESCWA Skills Monitor. This involves providing human intervention for vetting model outputs, assisting with document translation, and contributing to project proposal development. The role directly supports ESCWA's mission to help member states navigate the evolving employment landscape driven by technological advancements, ensuring they can harness emerging opportunities and mitigate challenges. The analyst's work will inform strategies for adapting to the future of work.

Responsibilities

The Research Analyst will be responsible for assisting in the accuracy verification of Machine Learning models, specifically in Occupation classification and skill identification for ISCO jobs. This includes checking the accuracy of regular expression (Reg-X) models in text feature extraction. The role involves conducting data analysis using data from the ESCWA Skills Monitor and supporting meeting, workshop, and mission preparations, including administrative tasks. Additionally, the analyst will assist with ad-hoc activities related to labor market policies and private sector development, contributing to the overall goals of the Future of Work initiative.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of experience is required in data manipulation, data analysis, presentation, drafting, and data visualization. Proven experience working successfully within a team is also necessary.
