International Consultant: Project reporting and research
Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the WTO and UN, supports SME internationalization and sustainable development through trade. The Refugee and Trade Team, within the Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade, focuses on trade-related assistance for displaced persons. This role supports the ARRIVES project in Nigeria, aiming to enhance economic reintegration for returning migrants.
Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the ARRIVES project in Nigeria, which facilitates economic reintegration for returning migrants through self-employment or job placement. The consultant will contribute to improving the understanding of returnee needs and developing recommendations for economic support activities. The project aims to build a stronger business ecosystem in Nigeria and enhance institutional support for returnee-led MSMEs, providing structured learning for partners and returnees. The consultant will conduct research, analyze data, and produce knowledge products to inform the project's second phase and ensure successful dissemination and reporting.
Responsibilities
The consultant will identify research topics for Phase II of the ARRIVES project, focusing on tangible economic opportunities for Nigerian returnees. This includes conceptualizing, collecting, and reviewing data on three business sectors, organizing webinars, and ensuring publication on the ARRIVES knowledge platform. The role involves supporting monthly and quarterly internal reporting, managing the participant monitoring framework, and coordinating impact surveys and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs). Additionally, the consultant will provide support for other project-related tasks as required by the project or the Refugees & Trade programme team, ensuring all reporting obligations and knowledge product dissemination are completed.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting project management within a displacement or migration context in international organizations is required. Experience in research within a UN context and communications/editing experience with ITC are considered assets.
Skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for interacting in an international office environment. Ability to pay attention to detail, work independently under minimum supervision, and manage time effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva. Knowledge of international trade, economic development, and migration/displacement issues.
