Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva seeks a Social Media Intern to support the Partnerships Branch. This role focuses on enhancing the Chief's external engagement and social media presence, contributing to the branch's strategic visibility and outreach efforts.
Job Purpose
The Social Media Intern will support the Partnerships Branch's strategic visibility, digital communications, and outreach initiatives. The primary purpose is to enhance the Chief's external engagement and social media presence by developing and implementing social media strategies, creating engaging content, and promoting OCHA's campaigns and partnerships. This role involves contributing to multimedia content creation, monitoring digital presence, analyzing performance, and supporting executive office activities to increase the visibility of the Branch's priorities and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement social media strategies for the Chief's platforms, including content planning, drafting engaging posts, and proposing creative ideas. Create visually appealing graphics and digital assets for social media, presentations, and newsletters, adhering to branding guidelines. Assist in planning, filming, and editing short videos and support photography during events. Monitor social media performance using analytics tools, prepare reports, and research emerging trends. Support the Chief in day-to-day Front Office activities, including preparing briefing materials, coordinating meetings, and conducting background research to enhance the visibility of the Partnerships Branch.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, previous experience in social media and in a private or public sector setting is desirable. Demonstrated ability in drafting social media texts and articles is also considered an advantage.
Skills
Social media strategy development and implementation, content creation (written and visual), graphic design, video editing, social media monitoring and analytics, research, strong written and verbal communication skills in English, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks.
